It was inspiring to hear how the grant funding provided in 2018 was used to fund projects throughout the diocese. The drive and determination of South Plains Catholics has not surprised us. Some parishes were able to stretch their grant funding further than we expected.
In 2018,
$22,625 was split among twenty parishes, schools and Catholic organizations.
The grant program continues for another year, thanks to Catholic Foundation Members who
donate annual dues ranging from $250 to $1,500.
A handful of recipients applied for funding in 2019 and fulfilled the requirement of a report on 2018 funding.
Holy Cross in Post was able to purchase two printers and renovate their restrooms with their $1,000 grant.
St. George in Haskell completed their parking lot project thanks in part to the $2,500 grant which covered 10 percent of the total project cost.
St. Joseph in Crosbyton purchased a new projector and replaced a 13 year old laptop with their $800 grant.
Children at Christ the King Catholic School received scholarship funding with a $1,000 grant from the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lubbock.
The Adelante Catholic After School program at Our Lady of Guadalupe of Lubbock provided scholarships to students thanks to their $1,000 grant.
Four participants received scholarships to a Rachel's Vineyard retreat in 2018 with the grant funding.
Raider Catholic was able to pay their Campus Minister with their 2018 grant funding.
