March 17, 2020Electronic giving is not common in the 61 parishes of the Diocese of Lubbock. However, with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, Bishop Coerver dispensed a large category of individuals from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation. This may affect the weekly offertory parishes depend on to pay for their Pastor and daily operations.
Mass will be available to watch online at the Bishop's parish, Christ the King Cathedral. However, your financial support needs to stay at your parish. You can mail a check to your parish and include your usual parish envelope. But if you usually give cash or would like to make an immediate gift, the Catholic Foundation is here to help.

Some members of the Catholic Foundation take advantage of the "Pass Through Giving" policy. In this policy, a gift can be made to the Catholic Foundation with directions to distribute to any Catholic parish, organization or ministry listed in the Diocese of Lubbock Pastoral Directory. In the policy, the Catholic Foundation reserves the right to take a 1% administration fee in order to pay for the check processing, postage, etc.
In light of the pandemic and the urgency for parishes to retain what little offertory they receive, the Catholic Foundation will waive this 1% administrative fee. Therefore, 100 percent of your gift will go to your parish.

This time of social distancing is an opportunity to draw closer to our Lenten experience. Finding ways to pray outside of the Mass, fasting in sacrifice for those suffering from the pandemic, and continuing to give alms to our struggling parishes.
